The midwest is not really known for it’s wine. It’s a region that has harsh winters and blistering summers which requires winemakers to use hybrid grapes that can survive this difficult weather. But what is a hybrid? What does a midwestern wine taste like and who is making them? On this weeks show, Scott sat down with Nick Smith, a member of the UW Madison Fermentation Sciences Department, to discuss what it means to be a winemaker in Wisconsin and the UW hosting the Wisconsin is Wine competition.
