36 - Bierzo, Spain, Producer Raúl Pérez, and the Mencia grape

Bierzo, Spain is a wine region that is lesser known to most American wine drinkers. So don’t feel bad if you haven’t heard of it before this because the Wine Warriors hadn’t either. But now that they have it has quickly become their new favorite region to explore.

They try three of producer Raúl Pérez’s wines from his eclectic Castro Ventosa catalogue. These wines built upon the Mencia grape blew away the gang, especially Scott who once again celebrated a birthday this week. (What a millennial)

Wines reviewed in this episode:

2012 El Castro de Valtuille

2010 El Castro de Valtuille (Crianza)

2010 Caltuille: La Cova de la Raposa
